This chili variety is a Capsicum chinense with countless tiny orange-yellow berries and comes from Peru, where it is known as Charapita, Aji Charapita and sometimes Bird Charapita. The main growing area is in the tropical north of Peru on the border with Brazil. The plants love warmth, grow up to 80 cm tall and like to branch out sideways, spreading up to 90 or even 110 cm. The plants are very productive and, in good conditions, produce many hundreds of fruits. Pack of 10 Charapita Orange seeds

The young Aji Charapita plants can be planted outdoors after about 4–6 weeks, spaced 45 x 45 cm apart. The plants are extremely sensitive to drops in temperature, so night-time temperatures should stay above 5°C. Add fertiliser when repotting.
From the end of August to early September, the fruits can be harvested and enjoyed. The small, round orange fruits, 1 to 1.5 cm in diameter, stay crisp and fresh for a long time even after ripening. With a heat level of 9 out of 10, the Aji Charapita is very hot.
Incidentally, the Aji Charapita is the most expensive chili in the world.
Caution: wear protective gloves when handling hot chilies.
