Cholula Hot Sauce is a hot sauce loved worldwide for its pleasant heat and complex aroma. The Chili Garlic adds a fine garlic note. The wine vinegar is mild and less overpowering than in many better-known sauces. With its gentle heat it goes with almost any dish – excellent with Tex-Mex and great on pizza.
The Cholula sauce with the wooden cap is made in Mexico.
The Cholula brand is named after the 2,500-year-old city in the state of Puebla, Mexico. Puebla lies in Mexico's central highlands and is known for its long chilli-growing tradition. In the Aztec language, Cholula roughly means "place of retreat". Today, Cholula hot sauces are made in Chapala, also in Mexico.
The round wooden caps are the hallmark of Cholula sauces: Original, Chipotle, Chili Garlic, Chili Lime, Green Pepper and Sweet Habanero. All share pequin chillies, also known as the "mother chilli", with excellent citrusy, smoky and nutty notes.
Cholula sauces are hugely popular in the USA – they even sponsor baseball teams such as the Texas Rangers, New York Mets and Chicago Cubs. You will find a bottle of Cholula on the table in many American restaurants.
