The Naga Viper chili is a Capsicum chinense variety from England. It is a cross of 3 chili varieties – “Bhut Jolokia”, “Naga Morich” and “Trinidad Scorpion” – and has about 1,382,118 SHU on the Scoville scale. It is one of the hottest chili varieties that can be grown (heat: 10+ out of 10). The bushy plants grow about 100 cm tall and are extremely productive. They should be placed in a sunny, sheltered spot. When planting in the garden, space them about 40 cm apart. Sow from March (indoors), and plant out in the garden/on the balcony from mid-May.

The deep red, elongated, wrinkled fruits are ultra hot and have a fantastic sweet and fruity aroma. Given its extreme heat, it is an excellent choice for extremely hot sauces, or dried to make chili powder for seasoning a wide range of dishes.

This is possibly the best chilli sauce I've ever had, loads of fruit from all the berries, and a real kick from the Scorpions. Particularly good with wild boar and venison.
