Joe's Long Cayenne Orange chilies belong to the Capsicum annuum species and are the longest chilies in the world! They can grow up to 30 cm long. With a heat level of 9/10, they are among the (medium) hot varieties. The fruits ripen from green to red and have a pepper-like, slightly sweet but fairly hot flavour. The thin-skinned fruits are well suited for drying, stringing into ristras and pickling.

The plant grows about 120 cm tall, is also recommended for beginners and gives an abundant yield. The germination temperature is between 22 and 28°C (germination time 6–20 days), so using a greenhouse and a heat mat is advisable. The plants need fresh, well-fertilised, well-draining soil and do not tolerate waterlogging. They should be placed in a sunny, sheltered spot with at least 6 hours of sunlight, preferably more. Move the plants outdoors about 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost.
If you plant them outdoors, space the plants 50 cm apart. The main harvest follows after a ripening time of about 3 months.

This is possibly the best chilli sauce I've ever had, loads of fruit from all the berries, and a real kick from the Scorpions. Particularly good with wild boar and venison.
