The Trinidad Scorpion Butch T chili belongs to the genus Capsicum chinense. Although it is descended from the Trinidad Scorpion Moruga red from the Caribbean, it is an Australian variety. It owes its name to Butch Taylor, owner of Zydeco Farms in Crosby, Mississippi, who sent seeds from a cross of the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion with one of his hottest chilies to Australia. There the variety was grown to make an extremely hot chili sauce.

The Trinidad Scorpion Butch T Yellow is extremely hot and has a fresh flavour with mild citrus notes. The fruits of the Butch T Yellow are wrinkled and irregularly shaped and ripen from green to light yellow. There is also a variety with red fruits. The flavour is fruity-sweet beneath the extreme heat. They are mainly used in hot sauces.
The plant grows bushy and reaches a height of 80–120 cm. Wearing gloves when harvesting and processing the fruits is strongly recommended. This spicy fruit needs a lot of warmth when growing. Soak the seeds in chamomile tea to disinfect them. Keep the substrate moist at all times; during germination the seeds need a minimum temperature of 24°C. Temperatures between 24 and 28°C are ideal.
